PXRF
Portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) is a technique used to provide rapid, non-destructive, in-situ chemical element analysis of rock, soil, dust and water. It can provide real-time, decision support for operational field decisions (exploration, mining, site remediation or waste management). pXRF can provide a cost-saving alternative to laboratory analysis programs and is highly efficient in remote or harsh field conditions.
PXRF sensors are used extensively in mining, agriculture and environmental investigations. Applications include:
- field-based analysis of drill core
- investigating contaminants in tailing dams, dust, vegetation, water and landfill
- elemental characterisation of soils
- non-destructive detection of lead in paint
